As part of it’s ongoing product development process, Brabender Technologie have introduced a number of innovations into its feeding, weighing and bulk material handling product lines, that enhance both their flexibility and safety.
Servo motors to be the standard for feeders
Feeders are to have servo motors fitted as standard in the future. Servo motors offer a wider speed range that standard AC motors while maintaining their torque levels at low speeds. In addition they keep the motor speed consistent even when under high torque demand conditions.
New flexible connectors
Brabender flexible connections are made from highly durable, tear-resistant liquid silicone rubber (LSR), they are essential for sealing the upstream and downstream processes. When hazardous ingredients are used, the connections prevent harmful dust from escaping.
The new design provides highly flexible characteristics essential for ultra-low feed rates below 50 grams per hour. The flexible connection material thickness is specifically designed to be extremely thin in the flexible area and thicker and more robust where attached to the clamps.
Purged shaft seals
The recently developed shaft sealing system can be used wherever screw or agitator shafts are required and Brabender has now added a purge system to this innovative radial shaft seal. The purged seal consists of an inner pressurised chamber that means that in the rare event of a seal leak, dust always remains inside the chamber. The shaft seals act as a barrier in both directions: on one side towards the motor and on the other side in contact with the ingredient.
New clear vertical outlet ideal for visual flow checks
A new clear vertical outlet moulded from PETG has been introduced to the feeder line. The non-flexible plastic remains dimensionally stable up to 90°C while being fully sealed. The material is FDA-compliant and is ideally suited for the food industry. As it is transparent, visual inspection of ingredient flow can be carried out at a glance.
The clear PETG outlet will be available shortly for the universal FW40 FlexWall® feeder, the twin screw DDSR20 feeder and single screw DSR28 feeder. It will be available for all feeder models and sizes by 2021.
